The Lebanese Community in Kano State on Friday expressed willingness to support and cooperate with security agencies in their efforts to counter terrorism.
The Chairman of the community, Mr Tahir Fadlallah, gave the assurance while briefing newsmen on the recent discovery of arms and ammunition by security agencies in Kano.
Fadlallah, who condemned crime in all its ramifications, said the community was prepared to give the security agencies all the necessary cooperation in their effort to checkmate activities of terrorists.
‘’The Lebanese community in Kano and Nigeria in general states unequivocally that it condemns in strongest term, crime in whatever form and manner, irrespective of who the culprits may be,’’ he said.
According to him, the community has been living in Nigeria for over a century as peace loving people conducting their lawful businesses.
He said that the community had never been associated with any crime over the entire period of its stay in the country.
‘’The community will not accept, assist or associate with any criminal activities by any individual or group.
‘’The community wishes to restate its full and unwavering confidence in the ability of the relevant authorities to carry out thorough investigations with a view to bringing the culprits to justice,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, Fadlallah who is the Chairman of Tahir Hotel, threatened to take legal action against a media organisation for alleged libel by referring to him as the person arrested by the Joint Task Force in Kano.
‘’I have already directed my lawyers to prepare for the case as they want to spoil my name and businesses,’’ Fadlallah said.(NAN)
