Cashier Arraigned Over Alleged N1.1Mil Theft


The police in Lagos on Tuesday arraigned a 30-year-old Microfinance bank cashier, Christian Ibeh, who allegedly stole N1.1 million belonging to the bank.
Ibeh, a resident of Olodi, Apapa in Lagos State, is standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court.
The defendant allegedly stole the money from a microfinance bank on Coconut Ave., Olodi, Apapa, Lagos, on Aug. 12, 2011 at 12:30p.m.
The prosecutor, ASP Austine Onwuemene said that Ibeh conspired with others still at large to steal the sum in contravention of Sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Code of Lagos, 2011.
The cashier, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, Mr M. K. Fadeyi, granted him bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Further hearing in the case comes up on March 22.
